The Indian Institute of Technology is known as India’s“crown jewel of science”and is the“production base”of India’ s scientific and technological talents. The main reason for the excellence of the Indian Institute of Technology is its courage to break va- rious“boundaries”and creating a good internal and external environment for its own development. From the perspective of interdiscipli- nary integration,establishing research centers and building communication platforms; establishing interdisciplinary courses to break down curriculum barriers; conducting practical teaching and cultivating practical talents. From the perspective of industry-university- research integration,the strategic cooperation committed to scientific and technological progress,the knowledge cooperation to acceler- ate technology transfer,and the organizational cooperation that pays attention to interactive integration have enabled the development of IIT to be supported by external institutions such as enterprises. From the perspective of self-organization and integration,the autonomy granted to the college and the establishment of a three-level governance structure provides the Indian Institute of Technology with suffi- cient space for development. From the perspective of integration through international exchange,running schools with international as- sistance and extensive international exchanges of faculty and students have broadened the international vision of IIT.
