Relevant national laws, regulations and important policy documents all emphasize the need to “enhance the adaptability of vocational education”, and report of 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China also makes it clear to optimize the ori? entation of vocational education types. The development of higher vocational education should be adapted to the economic development, and the direction of talent training should be constantly adjusted according to the economic development planning in order to be more “adaptable”. On the basis of analyzing the development trend of higher vocational education in China, this paper takes the new devel? opment pattern of “One Core - One Belt - One District” in Guangdong as an example, deeply analyzes the adaptability of the develop? ment of higher vocational education and economic development. Besides, this paper further explores and expands the realistic effective path of vocational education adaptability to put forward to improve the adaptive strategy of higher vocational education and regional eco? nomic development. Specially, it includes encouraging industry investment, accurately docking with regional pillar industries, building leading brand majors in professional groups, deepening the integration of industry and education and the integration of science and edu? cation, and promoting the cross - regional spillover of high - quality higher education resources.
