Abstract:The interdisciplinary construction of U. S. research universities stems from the need to solve increasingly complex prac? tical and theoretical problems, the catalytic incentives of federal funding policies, and the universities’ own pursuit of innovative devel? opment. Through a series of strategies, such as the adjustment of the traditional faculty structure, the establishment of interdisciplinary institutions and platforms, the development of interdisciplinary strategic planning, the improvement of interdisciplinary administrative management system, the innovation of interdisciplinary faculty appointment system, and the promotion of interdisciplinary research and talent cultivation, U. S. research universities promote the cross - fertilization of academic disciplines, promote the output of interdisci? plinary research results, and train a large number of interdisciplinary talents. Drawing on the experience of interdisciplinary construc? tion of U. S. research universities, Chinese universities need to break down disciplinary barriers, develop interdisciplinary strategic planning, improve interdisciplinary management system, build interdisciplinary cooperation platforms, and emphasize both interdisci? plinary research and talent training.
