Abstract:The study investigates the change track of problematic social networking use and sleep quality of college students and the relationship between them. A followup study was carried out on 774 college students every year for three consecutive years by using the short SNS Addictive Tendencies Scale and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and the data were analyzed by cross - lagged model and par- allel latent growth modeling. It is indicated that the problematic social networking use ( slope value = 1. 052,p < 0. 01) and sleep quality ( slope value = 0. 992,p < 0. 01) of college students showed a deteriorating trend during the three years; In three years, the problematic social networking use in the previous year could positively predict the sleep quality in the next year, but not vice versa; The initial level of problematic social network use could clearly predict the initial level of sleep quality( β =0. 445,p < 0. 01) . The growth rate of problematic social network use could significantly predict that of sleep quality( β = 0. 303,p < 0. 01) . The initial level and development of College Students’problematic social networking use are the driving factors for the deterioration of their sleep quali- ty,which provides a new empirical basis for the study of College Students’sleep quality.
