The university culture in local transforming universities is an important source of Chinese university culture diversity. Its development not only helps to promote the core competence of the local transforming universities,but also helps to maintain the balance and stability of the university cultural ecosystem in China. Cultural ecology’s vision on the relation between culture and the environ- ment as well as the characteristics of the cultural ecosystem offers a theoretical foundation to examine the development law of the univer- sity culture in local transforming universities. To the development of the university culture in local transforming universities,cultural in- tergrowth is the basis,cultural harmonization is the core and crucial point and cultural regeneration is the safeguard. Thus from the per- spective of cultural ecology,to boost the development of their university culture,local transforming universities firstly should build up the following concepts: system harmonization,diversity balance and dynamic development. And then guided by these concepts,they must extract the features of their university culture,enhance the endogenous power of the cultural development and upgrade their cultur- al influence.
