Based on the data of national MPA excellent dissertations from 2005 to 2019,this paper makes a quantitative analysis on the research topics,research methods,dissertation types,degree awarding units and provincial distribution. The results reflect the following development trends of MPA excellent dissertations in China: the research topics continue to deepen,the research paradigms is becoming more and more standardized,the research report dissertations are valued,and the cultivation quality presents regional imbal- ance. However,the theoretical vision of the research is relatively limited,the quantitative research data need to be further explored, the case analysis dissertations and policy evaluation dissertations are less. In order to improve the overall quality of dissertations,we should strengthen students’problem awareness,enhance the ability of applying research methods,encourage case studies and policy e- valuation studies,and strengthen the communication between colleges and universities.
