Abstract:Local normal universities’transformation is a focus problem of current studies,but there’s less attention from the per- spective of path dependence theory. The research analyzes the transformation of the teacher - team,the disciplines and academic power in Z Normal University. It finds that the transformation is constrained by the historical context,increasing returns and limited rationality in the process of transformation,results to the lack of teachers,unable revocation of inefficiency disciplines and administration of aca- demic - power. Thus,the research suggests that it is necessary to consider the characteristics of path dependence,implement a“pro- gressive”strategy,take advantage of the dominant disciplines and existing teachers,decentralize the organizational power. We can also introduce talents appropriately under the premise of taking the school construction into account,develop special disciplines to realize professor governance led by professors.
