Abstract:Based on panel data during base periods and follow - up periods of Project 985's three construction cycles,this study constructs a difference - in - difference model to evaluate the quantitative effects of“Project 985”on the variables related to scientific research,talent training and social service in construction colleges and universities. It found that the Project have caused positive effects on variables related to scientific research and teaching of target universities,but had no significant effect on social service - re- lated variables; Moreover,the cyclical effect of the Project has obvious continuation; In addition,the effects of“985 Project”on the corresponding variables of comprehensive construction colleges and universities of science and technology are different. The conclusion of the study will provide an empirical basis for the selection of the construction objectives and construction strategies of the new round of world - class universities.
