In May 2017,American network education institution - the online education consortium which published an annual re- port entitled“Digital Learning Guide: Distance Education Registration Report”. This is the fourteenth annual report on the develop- ment of online education in American colleges since 2003. Through 2017 annual report,this paper analyzes the current situation,impe- tus and development bottlenecks of online education in American Universities and makes some reflections on the sustainable develop- ment of online education in China from the experience of the United States.
